Soma Community Practice

Soma Community Practice is a 75-minute exploration of somatic movement and embodied expression.

Weaving together energising, expressive movement and deep restorative rest, Soma Community Practice offers a shared space to move, feel, release, and soften—inviting you to shift gently from thinking to sensing, into presence and connection.

The practice begins with sensory orientation, grounding, and anchoring exercises, guided by breath and embodied awareness. It then shifts fluidly into expressive movement that supports strength, mobility, and heart rate variability, helping to release built-up energy, ease muscular tension, and strengthen nervous system resilience.

As the practice unfolds, the pace gradually slows, offering an invitation to turn inward. Through nourishing somatic exercises, soft stretches, tension-release techniques, and trauma-aware breathwork, the nervous system is guided into deeper regulation and rest.

Soma Community Practice is open to all bodies and experience levels, with options, modifications, and rest always welcome. You’re invited to move in a way that feels responsive, supportive, and true to your Soma.

FAQs

  • Embodied movement is the practice of being fully present in your body as you move. It’s about tuning into your inner landscape—becoming aware of your breath, the rhythm of your heart, your body temperature, how your muscles contract and release, and how your body moves through space. Rather than focusing on how movement looks, embodied movement invites you to feel into the experience of being a living, breathing, sensing body in motion.

  • Somatic movement takes us a layer deeper. It uses movement to connect with and understand how our emotions live in the body. Our feelings are often stored in our muscles, tissues, and bones—and somatic movement helps us bring gentle awareness to these internal experiences.

It can support nervous system regulation, emotional expression, and the release of held tension.

Through somatic movement, we create space to move what we feel and reconnect with ourselves in a meaningful, embodied way.

  • Just bring your Soma! Mats and small props are provided. The space includes bathrooms, drinking water, and areas to change and store your belongings.

In the warmer months, we recommend bringing a small towel. For Soma SOFT classes, which involve deep nervous system regulation, it’s common for body temperature to drop—so you might want to bring an extra layer that’s comfortable to move in.
