Soma Journal
A space for musings on movement, breath, and our sensing body.
Redefining Movement with Somatic Awareness - a personal reflection
I used to think movement was about sweating, toning muscles, keeping weight off and achieving “perfection”—exercising too much and eating too little to mould myself into what society deemed visually desirable. Befriending Your Breath
Our breath resides at the centre of our Soma, a companion that travels with us wherever we go. As you begin to explore your breath, I invite you to meet it with the same kindness and curiosity you would bring to a conversation with a dear friend—with a sense of listening and honouring whatever presents itself in the moment.
Somatic Movement & Embodied Pilates for Runners
What if running longer and stronger wasn’t about pushing harder—but about moving with presences and intention?
Releasing Pelvic Floor Tension with Somatic Movement
I recently had the pleasure of collaborating on an article for RUSSH magazine, written by the lovely Genevieve Phelan, on the relationship between our nervous system and pelvic floor tension. Exploring how embodied awareness—developed through somatic movement—can be combined with the strengthening and mobility work of Pilates to calm the nervous system and help release deep-held tension.
Eco-somatics at Tessellate Festival
Together, we explored how each element lives within our soma—creating a quiet co-regulation between bodies and land, between individual breath and collective rhythm.
